Today in Chicago is Bill Kurtis Day, to be declared this evening by Chicago’s Cultural Affairs Commissioner Michelle Boone.
Back in the 1990s I provided the musical scores for 21 episodes of his A&E show American Justice, co-produced by Towers Productions.
I only remember meeting him twice, most memorably at the voiceover session for How OJ Simpson Won, the 2-hour special episode. What struck me about him was his extreme professionalism and his surprising ability to record narration in near-real-time with very few retakes. As I recall the entire session for the 2-hour show took about 3 hours — remarkably efficient and effective.
Congratulations, Bill!
